As one who must suffer with POTS due to happenstance and terrain, please excuse my inability to be enthused by the hullabalue with which this new fiber plan is announced. I fail to see what difference it can make to rural telephone
customers living with dial up service.
It seems to me the crux of our problem over the last 10 to 15 years is the quality of the "last mile" twisted copper pair of the 1970s and prior years installation that the major local telephone service providers have chosen not to replace. Trunk lines of fiber will not address or correct this problem.
